Transforming faith: God’s promise to turn darkness into light!

Posted: August 20, 2007 in Faith, Hope

Psalm 18:28 “You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.”

I don’t know about you, but when I am in the thick of the battle, when the going gets tough I have a hard time seeing the prevenient hand of God at work in my life. In fact, my most natural tendency is to begin to doubt God and God’s presence in my life. However, like David, when I come through the battle I look back and see how the hand of God was upon my life and leading me through the troubled waters. I look back and see how the grace of God kept my lamp burning and turned my darkness into light. The longer I walk with the Lord and the more I experience this light transformation the more I am confident of God’s presences and protection during those dark times of my life. It is scriptures like these that remind me today that whether I know it, care to know, can see it, or feel it; God is present in my life and is the one that will bring light to my dark and barren life.

Lord, I thank you today for being the source of transformation in my life. I thank you for turning my darkness into light; for bringing wholeness out of my brokenness. Give me the grace to live a life that points to this story of transformation; help me to be aware of and see your presence in my life, especially during those times of darkness. Help me to recognize your presence in the lives of others as they travel through the valleys of life. Protect me from the temptation to doubt during the darkness of life and give me the grace to act in faith of knowing that your abiding presence is with me during the darkness of life with the full assurance that you will turn my darkness into light. Amen!!!
