Jesus is the true source of help
Psalm 121:2 “my help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth”
So many times in our lives we look for help in all the wrong places. We search for help within the creation and don’t realize that help from within the creation is always tainted in some degree. True help, wholeness, and healing can only come from the source of creation; the creator. True help can only come from God. In Jesus, God reveals to us this truth; time and time again throughout the gospel we see examples of how Jesus is our help and there is nothing else that can be our help except the Lord. We can read all the self help books, go to all the counseling, seek the advice from all the wise people, yet if our source of help is not grounded in Jesus we will be left empty and incomplete. It is a tragedy that we sell ourselves short and settle for help within the creation instead of tapping into the source that transcends this world, a help that can only come from the source.
Lord, remind me today that help does not come from anything within this world, but that true help can only come from you. May you be my help today; may I rely on you for council and direction. May you work through others if necessary to give me this help but give me the wisdom to discern that this help is coming from you. Be the source of my salvation today and guide me in the path that would lead me closer to you. Forgive me of the ways in which I seek help in other places; convict me of this rebellion. Grant me the grace to know you in my inmost being that my true help can only come from you because you are the maker, redeemer, and sanctifier of this world and my life. Amen!
I am excited today that my help comes from the one that stands above, beyond, and within this world!
