Speaking boldly because of hope
2 Corinthians 3:12 “Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.”
It’s crazy how easy it is for me to forget the power of the gospel that is not only present in my life but also within the world. I can get caught up in the arguments and beliefs of “man” that I forget there is a greater truth that transcends the thoughts and beliefs of the world. My hope is not in the latest, greatest theory of the world; my hope is not in a college professor that manipulates my mind; my hope is not in a society built upon our humanness….no, my hope is in the Godman Jesus Christ; my hope is in the promise that God sought me out and brought me back into relationship with Him through Jesus Christ; my hope is in the promise that now I live a life that is bigger than myself and I am a part of a story that will never end; my hope is in the promise that regardless of what happens in this world, including death, I can never be separated from God. Why would I not be bold in my proclamation of this hope? Why would I not want to share this hope with others? I am the obstacle to my boldness; I am the obstacle to my sharing; my own humanness gets in the way and it is only through God’s grace that I take this message of hope with boldness to a seemingly hopeless world….
Lord, I come to you today and confess that my own humanness, my own fear, my own sin is what gets in the way of me being bold for you. Thanks for reminding me today that the hope I claim is not a hope to be ashamed of or a hope that should be avoided when sharing with others. Kill the fear inside of me that keeps me from being bold for you; open up doors today for me to share your hope with the world around me. Prevent the sins, of claim to be followers of you, from keeping me from proclaiming your hope but give me the grace to point to the true hope found in Jesus Christ and to expose the false witness that infects so many churches today. Thank you for saving my life and inviting me into a new way of being; thank you for inviting me to join you in loving the world to heaven. Amen!!!
The Hope that is found in Jesus Christ is the source of my boldness because it is the message that brings light into this darkness.
