Speaking for God: "Approved and Entrusted means great responsibility"
I Thessalonians 2:4 “On the contrary we speak as Men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts.”
So much of my world is around folks representing things of the world; trying to speak in ways to get the world’s approval or the next big sale. For most of us we are only entrusted with this false notion of pursuing our “own happiness” that our whole lives are built around achieving this goal. Hence, we talk to folks and try to influence folks based upon an ability to “pursue false happiness.” When I came to know Jesus this changed in my life because I was no longer pursuing my own happiness but now finding real happiness through Jesus Christ. When this transformation happened I became a person approved by God and entrusted with the gospel of Jesus Christ to communicate to others in my midst. No longer do I live for Chad’s happiness (although this is a temptation I battle on a daily basis) but now I live for the gospel that all may know Jesus. This is not easy because there is always a constant battle to pursue my happiness instead of representing the gospel, but through God’s grace I press on towards the goal and sharing this gospel with the world around me not trying to please men but focused on living a life that is pleasing to God.
Lord, thank you for saving me from the depths of hell in my life and offering me a new life that is grounded in your love and grace. Thank you for approving me through your grace and inviting me into this way of life. Lord, I continue to be tempted and my thoughts are constantly tested; may you give me the grace to not follow the sickness of my mind but may I be empowered to speak of your love to the world around me. May I live today as someone that is entrusted with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Amen!!!
Through Jesus Christ I have been entrusted with the gospel and expected to live in a way that is worthy of this entrustment.
