Ephesians 2:21-22 “In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit.”
This is a life changing revelation this morning; when I (we) am (are) able to grasp this concept that Church is not about a building but about a group of people allowing God’s grace to shape them in such a way that God lives and breaths among them it changes our whole concept of what Church is. Perhaps in our continued desire to serve ourselves and resistance of God’s grace we have turned Church into a place where humanity lives and breaths instead of a place where God lives and breaths through us. The first clue that we have turned Church into a human invention is when we think that Church is tied to a specific building or place. Church first and foremost is tied to my (our) Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Perhaps one of the reasons so many churches are struggling to keep their doors open today is because they are trying to build the wrong kind of building and not allowing God to build them up together through His grace in such a way that Jesus lives among them. When Jesus saves us, God calls us to join this community of people that are being built together for something that is bigger then their own lives; God calls them to be built together to be a dwelling place where God lives and breaths in the world….and all of this is through God’s grace.
Jesus, I come to you this morning overwhelmed with Joy at your perfect plan for my life. I thank you for inviting me to be a part of something that is bigger then myself; I thank you for inviting me to be a part of your creation of Crossroads. Lord, this scripture today has moved me in a way that gives me full assurance and confidence of the work that you are doing in my life today. I am so thankful that I am not alone but that through your grace you are joining my life to others and that you are the glue that holds us together. I am thankful today that you are making us into a dwelling where you live and breath and accomplish your will within the world; I am thankful that we are becoming “true church.” May you continue to build us into this dwelling that every day we become more equipped and empowered to be your tool in loving the world to heaven. I thank you God for this awesome life and I am convinced that this is the best possible way to live. Amen!
