Finding Wholeness in God: "He hears and answers"
Psalm 6:9 “The Lord has heard my plea; the Lord will answer my prayer.”
This whole psalm is around David crying out to God in distress. It is a plea that something is not right; David writes this from a place of brokenness and in the midst of the brokenness there is the revelation that God hears his plea and God will answer His prayer. What a great comfort it must be for David to realize in the midst of his brokenness that God hears his cry for help and that God will answer his prayer.
What does it mean that I serve a Lord that here’s my cry of brokenness? What does is mean that I serve a Lord that not only hears my cry but answers my prayer? In a world that tries to tell me that I am on my own all the time I find great comfort in knowing that my plea for help does not go unnoticed. Not only that, but the only one who can make me whole; the only one who can rescue me from my brokenness is God and the only way this wholeness will take place is if God can hear and answer my cry for help. How amazing it is that the creator of the universe not only hears my cry for wholeness but answers that cry? In Jesus Christ, I understand and experience this act of grace; God became like me that I might be delivered from my brokenness and be made whole that I could become like Him. Yet even now (as a saved/forgiven/justified person) I find myself still infected with this disease of sin and there are many times where I find myself broken needing the healing touch of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful today that God has not abandoned me but has met me in the poverty of my soul that I could be made whole.
Lord, I cry out to you today with the brokenness of my life. Lord, may you deliver me from this overwhelming fear that seeks to consume me; rescue me from myself and my constant search for approval from the world. Give me the grace to seek approval from you and to know deep in my soul that true wholeness can only come through Jesus Christ. Hear my plea of help today and set me on a path that will bear witness to the fact that you hear my plea and you answer my prayers. I ask these things in Jesus name; Amen!!!
I find great comfort in knowing that through Jesus Christ, God hears my plea and answers my prayers.
