Standing boldly as a lion: "God’s empowering Grace"
Proverbs 28:1 “The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.”
Proverbs is full of these wisdom saying that help the people of God to apply certain truths to there lives and to give us insight into who we are at our core and the difference between the wicked and the godly. In this we see that a characteristic of the wicked is to fear and run away from an issue; to avoid the issue at all costs. On the contrary the godly stand firm in the face of what ever situation. The godly boldly stand in the face of conflict, persecution, hardship, joy, happiness, and proclaim their confidence in God. This boldness does come from within us but only comes through the empowering grace of God which is why only the godly can stand boldly in the face of any situation. The godly stand boldly precisely because it is God that empowers them to make that stand which is why the wicked run because they are not relying on God’s empowering grace and flee in the face of “nothing.”
There are so many occasions within my life that I feel like tucking my tale and running. There are numerous times that I find myself wanting to flee the situation and feeling as if I am powerless to face whatever struggle is in front of me. This proverb reminds me today that those feelings are based upon my humanity and there is no human way I am able to stand firm in the face of these intense situations. However, I am also reminded that through God’s empowering grace I can stand boldly behind the cloud and trust in my God that is going before me, with me, and after me regardless of the situation. I am inspired today to stand boldly through God’s grace and to trust that God will stand with me and see me through every situation that I experience in life. I claim this promise in my life today and thank God for Jesus Christ which makes this bold life possible.
Lord Jesus, where do I begin today except to say thank you for invading this world and my life that I might receive new life and the empowering grace to boldly stand firm in the face of the world. Continue to give me this grace that I will not fall into the temptation to thinking that it is all up to me but to have a confidence to boldly stand regardless of the situation trusting that you will see me through the situation. I thank you for this promise today. Amen.
Through Christ I can stand boldly in the face of the world.
