Salvation: "Destination or Journey"

1 Peter 2:2 “Like new born babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,

The author is laying a foundation to talk about discipleship throughout the rest of the chapter. It seems that the author is suggesting that we can settle for a limited experience of salvation or an empty experience of salvation. This would mean that salvation is not a destination but a journey, an experience. Its almost like the author is suggesting that salvation is a lifestyle. Could it be that salvation is living a life in a restored relationship with God through Jesus Christ that begins today and last forever? Could it be that salvation is something that we grow into? What does it look like to cry out for this nourishment? What is this spiritual milk? Where does it come from? How can I become like a new born baby?

I thank God for this scripture this morning that is a reminder that Jesus has such a big idea of salvation for my life. God desires for salvation to be so much bigger then a place or a destination. God desires for salvation to be all of life and to be the very thing that brings life to my life. What if I craved the journey of salvation the same way I craved my mothers milk as a baby? How am I missing out on the salvation God desires for me to experience? How am I settling for less when it comes to my view of salvation? What would it mean for me to cry out for this nourishment and to grow into the full experience of salvation that would encompass all of my life?

Lord may you open up my eyes today and give my a soul a hunger to have the full experience of salvation. Feed me on your spiritual milk that I might grow into a full experience of salvation. Protect me from attempts to keep the experience of salvation tied to a destination and place but may your grace continue to work in my life that I might experience the full range of salvation that you desire for me through Jesus Christ. Give me the grace to live this salvific life and as each day passes may my experience of salvation grow into your view and plan of salvation. Give me the nourishment to have this full experience of salvation. Amen.

Salvation is so much more then a destination or place but encompasses all of life.

One Response to “Salvation: "Destination or Journey"”

  1. I was wondering if you mind taking a moment and sharing something with me about your beliefs? This could also apply to any of your visitors here at the blog: if anyone reading this would like to email me your answer, I’d greatly appreciate it.

The question is this: thinking about your religious belief and its importance to you, what is the SINGLE greatest thing that you think your faith gives you know or will give you in the future? When thinking about it, please consider that you are trying to convince another human being that your faith is the one they should choose and you can only make one single argument for accepting it.

I greatly appreciate the help. Again, I’m not looking for a series of good reasons for believing what you do. Please limit your answer to ONE thing or advantage that your faith gives you.

Email me at hoopman4you@yahoo.com is you would like to participate.

    Thank you!
