Growing in Faith leads to more people; not the other way around.
Acts 16:5
SàSo the churches were strengthened in their faith and grew larger every day.
HàAs Paul journeys throughout Asia Minor he spends time developing these communities of faith. As these churches grow in their faith their numbers grow as well. This verse seems to point that there is a connection between growing in faith and growing in numbers.
AàWith out a doubt there are some “churches” that water down the message just to fill seats and there are other “churches” that have no one because they claim their preaching the gospel. We can’t ignore this connection between the growth of faith and the addition of numbers. As we grow closer to Jesus and are strengthened in our faith one of the results is that more people come into the fellowship. As our faith grows, God gives us more responsibility over more lives that the Good News may continue to spread. Our focus must not be on numbers; our focus must be on growing in faith and one way we can tell we are growing in faith is an increase in numbers.
PàLord, help me to day not to obsess over numbers but to obsess over our growth in faith. Give me the grace today for my faith to strengthen that you may expand my territory. Give Crossroads the grace today to grow in faith that you will expand our territory and give us more responsibility within the body of Christ. Keep us grounded in you and focused on becoming the devoted followers of Jesus you’ve called us to be and to trust that the rest will take care of itself. Amen.
EàNumbers will take care of themselves when the focus is growing in faith.
