Francois Fenelon said, “My God, I wish to give myself to thee. Give me the courage to do so.” Isn’t this so true. How often do we wish to “give ourselves to God” but then find ourselves back in the same place days, weeks, or months down the road desiring the same thing. I think this sheads light on what “true courage” really is. In my world we often think of courage as “taking the hill” or doing some other act that is the ultimate sign of self faith. Faith in our “self” to go and do something and with that action we become courageous. Perhaps, nothing could be a greater lie. Perhaps courage is at the very core about giving ourselves to God. Perhaps courage is about acting out the faith to which we profess. Let’s faceit; we all would like to belong to God. Even those of us who don’t believe still in our deepest places would like to belong to the being who created us or at least to believe in that possibility. However, that journey from our head to our heart can seem like an impossible track. For me, this is where God’s grace comes into play. It is through Jesus Christ that God gives me the grace to be courageous. On my own I am never able to travel from my head to my heart with this profession of faith and if I try I only find myself in a vicious cycle that leads to emptiness and hopelessness. I am not courageous. But through God’s grace I am able to make this courageous journey. In fact, I journey to my heart at this very moment through God’s grace and today I find true courage in God’s grace to give myself to Jesus and all of this has nothing to do with me and everything to do with what God has done for me in Jesus Christ.

Religious terminology that leads to such bondage and discouragement.
The day you were saved He becomes your life.
It is in letting Him do what He wants to do every moment of every day that counts.
In ourselves we can do nothing to make God one tiny little bit happier with us – the day we got saved He was as happy as He will ever be with us.
Sure, He may not be pleased with our performance, but He is totally happy with our person.
It is in our decisions to live out the truth of His Word and to trust Him to live through us that makes being a Christian such a pleasure and so easy!
Lots of love!
