Isaiah 43:2
“When you go through deep waters, I’ll be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fires of oppression you will not burn up; the flames will not consume you.”
What a power image today of what God promises us through this babe from Bethlehem. It’s hard for me to truly grasp that God is greater then any of my circumstances. I’m programmed in this culture to think that my environment defines who I am. To think that through Jesus Christ there is no circumstance that keeps Jesus away from me is a powerful comfort. As my environment and circumstances change I affirm today that Jesus’ hand holds me steady and that I have a constant anchor that keeps me grounded to God in spite of my environment and circumstances. I praise God for my anchor today that is coming dressed in swaddling clothes.
Give me strength today Jesus to remind me that you are greater then and transcend my circumstances. Give me grace to be transformed into a person that is not defined by his environment but is defined through you. Come in to my heart today and give me that which you desire; equip me with your gifts that I might be an instrument for others to become connected to the anchor that will hold us in spite of and because of the storm. Amen.
