The Corruption of Christmas: “God’s protecting Grace”
Luke 21:34 “Watch Out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life.”
Matthew, Mark, and Luke each take intentional time to warn their readers of the coming of God. It is this call to not get complacent; it’s a call to remember that God will come when we least expect and that we should live a life with this in mind. Here Luke urges us to not allow our hearts to be dulled by the ways and worries of this world.
Easy for him to say, huh? Am I the only one that finds myself slowly slipping into the complacency of the world and before I know it I am allowing the worries of this life to control by whole being. I come today in the poverty of my soul thankful that I am reminded this morning to not fall prey to being dulled down and obsessed with the worries of this life. I come this morning asking for God’s grace to not allow the dullness of the world’s view of Christmas to infect my soul. I come this morning asking for God’s grace to not allow the worries of the world’s understanding of Christmas to consume my heart. I pray today that God will protect my heart and keep me focused on this amazingly, weird good news that my savior is born homeless in a manger.
