Opening the Lines of Communication: “the baby in a manger”

As I continue to reflect upon the coming of Christmas I was reminded this morning that this baby is God’s desire to communicate with us.  Its His desire to have communion with us.  What better way for God to communicate with His creation then to become a part of the creation.  No longer is God a far off diety that seems to be outside of my culture and my life.  But now, by becoming a baby, God invades my culture and my life and opens up the lines of communication.  In this communication I am empowered to respond to God’s grace to shape me into the person He desires me to be; to join Him in His mission within the world.  No longer do my excuses about God not “being” here hold any kind of water.  For if the communication lines are cut off; it is I who are cutting off the lines because this baby is God’s resounding yes to the reality that the lines of communication are open from heaven.
