Overwhelming Forgiveness: God’s answer to my overwhelming sin.
Psalm 65:3 “Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all.”
Is it just me or does anyone else feel overwhelmed by your sins? There are times I look at those deep places in my life and I am disgusted. I find it hard to believe that a holy and just God would want anything to do with me. And yet at the same time I am overwhelmed with my sin I am also equally overwhelmed by the fact that I can’t fix it myself. Its the worst of both worlds. It seems like a certain hopeless situation. But yet I am reminded this morning that my sin does not overwhelm God but is an opportunity for His grace to be at work in my life. Not that I should enjoy my sin or look to create more sin so God’s grace can be poured out even more; but that in spite of my overwhelming sin and because of it God comes to me in Jesus Christ that I might receive forgiveness and have new life. It reminds me of Revelation 21: God is doing a new thing. There is a new sheriff in town that takes on my overwhelming sin and makes this psalmist’s plea a reality for all who call on the name of Jesus.
Jesus, come to me today into those dark places of my life where I am overwhelmed with sin. Do a new thing in my life today. Give me the grace to experience the reality of this verse; grant me the hope of forgiveness today. Pour upon me the strength to trust that your love and forgiveness is greater then the overwhelming sin of my life. Empower me to live today as a testimony to this new cleansing thing you are doing in my life. Amen.

I certainly feel overwhelmed by my sin! But the more I see it, the greater His grace appears. Thanks for the encouraging post.
