I Corinthians 10:13

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience.  And God is faithful.  He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand.  When you are tempted He will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

So often I find myself wanting to fight the temptation on my own power and every single time it fails; I always give in.  I am reminded today that on my own, temptation will get me every single time.  I am too weak; I cannot resist the temptation of my life on my own power.  In fact, in trying to resist on my own I am only setting myself up for failure.  However, Paul reminds me today that there is a way out and that way is Jesus.  Through the grace of Jesus I am able to resist the temptations of my life.  It is the through the power of the Holy Spirit that I am empowered to become holy as God desires.  I also realize that everyone suffers from temptations and it are those that admit they are weak and rely on God’s grace who find deliverance from these temptations.  I pray today that Jesus will show me a way out and will give me the grace today to endure the temptations of my life and that for today I will pursue holiness instead of my temptations.  Protect me Oh Lord!

  1. Perfectly said. I am weak and he is strong. I fail every time when I am depending on myself and it is my arrogance to think I can handle it on my own. Thank you and what a kind providence of God for this post today :)
